Blown film modeling, simulation and optimization

Scope of work:

  • Multi-layer film process-structure relationships optimization
  • Blown film / process quality indices optimization (maximize line output, minimize film thickness 2-Sigma error and layflat variation, improve film crystalization, gloss and haze)
  • Take line control to the next automatic-mode level for automatic control of process parameters when changing the structures (including line purging)

Approach

  • Developed an original method to characterize the multi-layer film structure properties as functions of film thickness, number of layers, layers thickness, correspondent component polymers' properties and position of each layer into any film structure.
  • Developed a mathematical modeling method for prediction of blown film shape and line functional parameters based on the above mentioned model and constructional line parameters.
  • Analysis of production receipts, data processing and model adaptation
  • Simulation and optimization of the process
  • Implementing model-based feed-forward control modules into the line control.
